Happy Sunday from Koh Lanta, Thailand! It’s been an incredible few weeks in this beautiful country, and this trip has already proved to be exactly what I needed and then some.
First exciting piece of news – today is my four year blog-iversary! On the 6th March 2012, I started this little travel blog with absolutely no expectations of doing anything more than finding a place to practice and improve my travel writing. Four years on, and I’m now a full time travel blogger and freelance writer, living on the road, with numerous awards under my belt and a level of success that I’m bursting with pride over. Blogging isn’t making me rich, and it probably never will, but I get to make money do the one thing I love more than anything in the world – and who can be unhappy with that? Just want to say a HUGE thank you to everybody who has followed my journey so far. It genuinely means the world to me that you guys read and support this blog – so thank you!
On my current trip, I’ve been trying hard to go with the flow, and to be more open to the opportunities that life brings my way. Whenever I’ve taken chances in my life, they’ve always led me to the most wonderful experiences and journeys. So, when a brand new opportunity came up to completely alter my travel plans and do something totally out of the blue this week – I decided to jump in feet first and go for it.
Which leads me to today’s other exciting announcement – on Thursday this week I’m ditching Thailand to fly to India for a month. Holi is on the 23rd March, which is something I’ve always wanted to see, so when my blogger pal Brendon invited me to tag along with him, I couldn’t say no!
My visa cleared this morning (less than a 24 hour turnaround!) so I’m now heading to India for a month. This is what I love about travel – you can have all the plans you like, but sometimes it’s better to be spontaneous and just go with the flow. Sometimes in life, opportunities come along that will just never come up again – so why not say yes if you can?
