Some Exciting Announcements!

Cocktail koh lanta thailand

Happy Sunday from Koh Lanta, Thailand! It’s been an incredible few weeks in this beautiful country, and this trip has already proved to be exactly what I needed and then some.

First exciting piece of news – today is my four year blog-iversary! On the 6th March 2012, I started this little travel blog with absolutely no expectations of doing anything more than finding a place to practice and improve my travel writing. Four years on, and I’m now a full time travel blogger and freelance writer, living on the road, with numerous awards under my belt and a level of success that I’m bursting with pride over. Blogging isn’t making me rich, and it probably never will, but I get to make money do the one thing I love more than anything in the world – and who can be unhappy with that? Just want to say a HUGE thank you to everybody who has followed my journey so far. It genuinely means the world to me that you guys read and support this blog – so thank you!

Picking up my trophy at the Bloggers Lounge awards

On my current trip, I’ve been trying hard to go with the flow, and to be more open to the opportunities that life brings my way. Whenever I’ve taken chances in my life, they’ve always led me to the most wonderful experiences and journeys. So, when a brand new opportunity came up to completely alter my travel plans and do something totally out of the blue this week – I decided to jump in feet first and go for it.

Which leads me to today’s other exciting announcement – on Thursday this week I’m ditching Thailand to fly to India for a month. Holi is on the 23rd March, which is something I’ve always wanted to see, so when my blogger pal Brendon invited me to tag along with him, I couldn’t say no!

What He Lost That Year

My visa cleared this morning (less than a 24 hour turnaround!) so I’m now heading to India for a month. This is what I love about travel – you can have all the plans you like, but sometimes it’s better to be spontaneous and just go with the flow. Sometimes in life, opportunities come along that will just never come up again – so why not say yes if you can?

Keep following my blog to see how I get on in India, and make sure you follow @em_luxton on Instagram to see some of my best shots from this incredible Asia trip.

  4. good choice! I look forward to all those colourful pictures

  5. OH, your life is so much fun! Can’t wait to read about India 🙂

    • Haha I wouldn’t say it’s that much more fun than anyone else’s. Right now I’m covered in patchy, painful sunburn and trying not to think about how hot I am whilst attempting to do my work on bad wifi. Travel blogging is definitely not a dream career 😉 BUT I am soooo excited for India, it’s going to be an amazing experience!

  6. Enjoy! I’ve just got back from Goa and I can’t wait to see more of India!

    • Oh wow, that’s cool! I wish I’d known sooner so I could have read your blog for tips – leaving Goa tomorrow so there’s not much time left. Planning to do a cooking class tomorrow morning though which will be fun 🙂

  7. Congrats on 4 years, Emily. What a traveller you have been! Just like one of those people you only read about in novels. At once you are in one country and then, the next moment, you’re in another cos there’s a cultural bell ringing. In the Hindu mythology there is a character called Narada who is everywhere where there’s something important taking place. It is great to see you getting around in different parts of Asia and I look forward to enjoying your IG pics. Have a great time.

    • Thanks so much Pramod! I honestly think this is the best compliment I’ve ever been given. I don’t feel like I’ve been that much of a traveller, but yes, I do get pulled in by new cultures all the time. It’s addictive; the more I travel the more I hear about new places that sound incredible, and then I just can’t resist!! Asia has been absolutely incredible so far – I’m loving India already and can’t wait to explore more.

  8. A VERY happy anniversary to you! I’ve LOVED following your blog for many of these past four years. Here’s to many, MANY more!!! 🙂
