My honest, in-depth review for anyone thinking of booking one of the Jet2 package holidays to Tenerife…
Last month, I headed on a short trip to Tenerife with my sister for five days of sunshine, great food, and chill time. After a few stressful months, we both wanted a traditional “fly and flop” type holiday: the kind where you laze in the sun doing very little.
Tenerife is perfect for that. With just a 4-hour flight from the UK, you can reach almost-guaranteed sunshine, palm trees, and sandy beaches. Jet2holidays have a great range of package holidays to Tenerife, and having travelled with them before, I was confident they’d be able to provide exactly the kind of relaxing break we needed. This is my in-depth review of the trip…
My trip was hosted by Jet2 in exchange for this review. But all words and opinions are my own – as always!
Jet2holidays Package Holidays to Tenerife: My Review
Having travelled with Jet2 before (on a tour of Turkey a few years ago), I was pretty certain that the experience was going to be a good one. I genuinely think that Jet2 are one of the best low-cost airlines and holiday providers, which is why I was so keen to work with them again when they moved into my local airport this year…

Jet2 Now Fly from Bournemouth Airport
One of the reasons I was so excited about this trip is that Jet2 now flies from my local regional airport! That’s right: as of February 2025, Jet2 now offer flights from Bournemouth Airport to 16 destinations (see below).
In fact, we were actually on the first ever Jet2 flight out of Bournemouth, which felt pretty special. There was even a bit of a party at the airport to see us all off!

Given that the flight left at 7am, I was particularly happy to be flying from Bournemouth, which is about a 40-minute drive from my house. Flying from a small regional airport has its perks: the carpark is about a 2-minute walk from the airport entrance, and everything was so much quicker than at the big London airports.
There was just one other flight leaving around the same time as ours, which meant much shorter queues at security – and we breezed straight through customs on the return journey. The downside, of course, is that there are fewer facilities: just one shop, a cafe, and a pub. But overall it’s a much smoother, more pleasant experience.

The Flights
My trip included flights to and from Tenerife with Jet2. I’ve flown with them before, so I knew what to expect: this is a low-cost airline, so flights are fairly no-frills, but they’re comfy enough.

The plane was clean and about as comfortable as you can hope for from a budget airline – albeit a little cramped on the flight out, which was full. The flight was pretty smooth, left on time, and arrived earlier than scheduled – plus the crew were fantastic.
Legroom: Although our flight felt a little cramped, the seat pitch (the distance between two seat rows) on Jet2’s Boeing 737-800 is 30″ (source), which beats most other budget airlines (see this list on Which?).
Jet2’s slogan is “Friendly Low Cost Fares” and I can honestly say that every flight I’ve taken with Jet2 has lived up to that! My sister is a very nervous flier (I didn’t realise HOW nervous until this trip!), so I was thankful that the pilot warned us when to expect turbulence. All in all, it was an excellent experience.
As with most low-cost airlines, you have to pay extra for quite a few things – including pre-booking your seat. HOWEVER, unlike a lot of airlines (looking at you, Ryanair) you still get FREE hand luggage* with Jet2, which is a huge perk. There’s no fee to check in at the airport either, which is another hidden charge that some airlines sneak in! Jet2 are pretty open about their fees and it never feels like they’re springing hidden charges on you.
*The hand luggage allowance is one piece at 56cm x 45cm x 25cm plus a small personal item at 40 x 30 x 15cm, which must fit under the seat in front of you.

The Transfer
Now, the biggest perk of booking a package holiday is that from the moment you step foot on the plane, pretty much everything is sorted for you. When we landed at Tenerife Airport, there were several staff members (in eye-catching red t-shirts) waiting at arrivals to help us find our transfer bus.
I loved the smoothness of stepping off the plane and onto a bus, to be dropped off right outside my hotel. The driver was friendly (although his English wasn’t great) and helped load and unload everyone’s bags.
Unfortunately, ours was the last hotel on the route, so the transfer took about an hour (and I felt like I was losing valuable pool time!). This kind of feels like pot-luck, depending on how the scheduling works out (and traffic conditions, etc) – but you can also book an Express Transfer or a Private Transfer to speed up the process.

The Service
Jet2 genuinely have the best staff. They consistently win awards for their Customer Service and rank well above average for the tourism industry on the Customer Satisfaction Index (UKCSI). My personal experience with their customer service team, both in the call centre and while on holiday, has always been excellent.
With a package holiday, there are staff to help at every step of the way: at airport check-in, on the flight, at arrivals in your destination, on the transfer bus, and at your hotel. We were given the contact details for our holiday rep, and she was in the hotel lobby at set times. Plus, you can contact customer service with any questions via the app.
Everyone we interacted with was so chatty, helpful and welcoming – particularly the staff at Bournemouth Airport (impressive considering we checked in at 5am!). I think it helps that Jet2 regularly send their staff on trips, because they have a lot of helpful insider knowledge.
The Hotel: Iberostar Selection Sabila

Jet2holidays have a TON of fantastic hotels across Tenerife, particularly in the popular Costa Adeje resort. But one leapt out at us straight away: the Iberostar Selection Sabila.
It was rated 5 stars, had a stunning pool, and looked gorgeous… but the thing that sold it to me is that this hotel is adults-only! That sounded ideal for the relaxing, quiet escape we were hoping for.
Thankfully, the Iberostar Sabila MORE than delivered on that front. It’s a beautiful hotel with a slightly art-deco, Miami Beach aesthetic. The service was impeccable, and I loved that we got a welcome glass of cava on arrival. Overall, I’d say the hotel attracts an older demographic (and definitely targets them with the entertainment offerings), but that suits me much more than a rowdy, 18-30s style resort!
I’ll review the hotel in-depth in a separate post as I have a lot to say (or you can watch my video tour here). But here’s a quick overview of the highlights…
Room Review

I stayed in one of the “Side Sea View” Double Rooms. It was a little on the smaller side, but by no means too small, and beautifully decorated with lots of light colours and wood. There’s a roomy en suite bathroom (complete with double sinks) and a large balcony with views of both the sea and the mountains.
There’s also plenty of storage in the room, so if you were staying for a week or more, it wouldn’t feel cramped or cluttered. One thing to note is that there was a pod-style coffee machine, but you only get 4 pods (and 2 were decaf), after that you have to pay for the pod refills – which I think is a bit stingy!
Facilities

The main highlight is the gorgeous outdoor pool, surrounded by palm trees. It’s set slightly below the exterior ground level, which helps block out both the wind (creating the perfect sun trap) and the outside street noise. There were plenty of sunbeds for the time of year, but during high season, you might have to get there early.
There’s also a well-equipped gym with lots of light (but unfortunately no sea views). It’s next door to the small spa, which has an outdoor pool and sundeck, an outdoor jacuzzi, plus a sauna and a steam room. It’s a bit small for the €24 price tag – but we had the whole place to ourselves, so it felt worth the fee just to have a private pool for two hours!
FYI – there’s also a rooftop pool and bar which is only available to guests staying in the Star Prestige rooms. This also gets you access to a special area of the buffet restaurant and a private poolside area with nicer sunbeds, plus a few other perks. The price for me would have been €80 per day, so I felt like this wasn’t worth it, but it’s worth looking into in case there’s a special offer on!
Food & Drinks

There are several food & drink options at Iberostar Selection Sabila:
- The main buffet restaurant (included with the dining plans). Genuinely one of the best hotel breakfast buffets I’ve ever had! There was so much choice, plenty of local cuisine, and something different to try every day.
- Poolside bar with a terrace for dining. The food was casual but top-notch (think high-quality pizzas and tapas). I highly recommend the croquetas.
- Gourmet Market Restaurant (additional fee). This was my personal favourite! It’s designed like a food court with different stalls, so you can order a medley of small plates and try lots of different things. Sit outside for sea views.
- Coffee Shop (additional fee). This a small, cute cafe for coffee, cakes and snacks. I didn’t buy anything here but it looked lovely.
- Lounge Bar. A large, well-stocked bar next to the hotel lobby with an outdoor terrace that’s ideal for sunset.
All-Inclusive: You can book all board types at the Iberostar Selection Sabila, including an all-inclusive package. We were staying on a bed & breakfast basis and paid for a couple of meals at the hotel – as well as dining out a few nights. I liked having the flexibility of choosing where and when to eat. We looked into upgrading to all-inclusive, but decided against it, and overall we spent less on food & drink than the price of the all-inclusive package. We had a couple of cocktails every day and a few glasses of wine with dinner, but we weren’t drinking tons. If you plan on drinking a lot more than us, you may find that the all-inclusive package works out cheaper for you.
The Resort: Costa Adeje Tenerife

Honestly – we didn’t really explore much of Costa Adeje on our trip because we were too busy relaxing in the hotel. We only had four nights and we wanted to make the most of the sunshine and chill time.
From what I did see of Costa Adeje, it seemed like a lively resort with gorgeous beaches, overlooked by Tenerife’s dramatic mountainscapes. However, the central area (around the likes of Playa Fañabé and the popular Siam Waterpark) isn’t really my “scene”. This is the typical “Brits in Spain” type of resort: think Irish pubs, fish-tank foot spas, and souvenir shops selling t-shirts with rude slogans. Everywhere we went, someone seemed to be singing Sweet Caroline. If that sounds like your cup of tea, you’ll probably love central Costa Adeje!
If not – there’s another, calmer side to Costa Adeje, and the Iberostar was right in between them both. Heading west, the area around Playa del Duque is much more upmarket, with lots of fancy hotels, upscale restaurants, and a couple of nice shopping centres.
It means there’s something for everyone in Costa Adeje, which is probably one of the reasons this lively seaside resort is so popular. Plus the beaches are all gorgeous, and there are lots of fun things to do in the area:
Fun Things to do in Costa Adeje Tenerife
- Siam Park – one of the best waterparks in the world.
- Whale & Dolphin Eco-Cruise
- Visit Mount Teide by Cable Car
- Teide National Park Stargazing Tour
- Parasailing

Quick Review Summary
The Main Takeaways
- The Iberostar Selection Sabila is the perfect place to stay if you’re looking for a relaxing break. It’s adults-only, has tranquil vibes, a gorgeous pool, and loads of great food options.
- Jet2 now fly from Bournemouth Airport to 16 destinations – IDEAL for those of us based in the Southwest.
- Jet2holidays package holidays to Tenerife make excellent short breaks as well as longer holidays.
- It’s a 4-hour flight, so I’d recommend a trip of 3 nights or longer – but it’s great for a minibreak.
- The flights are about as comfy as can be expected from a low-cost airline. The seat pitch is a little less cramped than the likes of EasyJet and WizzAir.
- Jet2’s customer service was faultless throughout: friendly, helpful, and always available.
- Costa Adeje is a popular resort town which has a “cheap and cheerful”, slightly tacky side AND a more upscale, calm side. Choose the side that suits your vibe!
Overall, I had a fantastic time on my Jet2holidays trip to Tenerife. I wanted a simple, “fly and flop” style holiday, where I didn’t have to do too much planning in advance (or do anything but lie in the sun once I arrived), and Jet2 delivered!
My sister, who is much more discerning than me (I love everything!) also had a great time. In fact, she’s been browsing the Jet2 site in search of a family holiday to take her husband and kids because she loved our trip so much. And I will definitely be heading straight to Jet2 next time I’m in need of a “proper” holiday!
